As the snow melts, the byway comes to life—rivers rush with spring runoff, wildflowers bloom, and wildlife emerges with their young. Whether you’re paddling, hiking to a waterfall, casting a line, or enjoying a picnic with a view, spring and summer are the perfect seasons to explore the outdoors in Maine’s Kennebec River valley.
The Days are Long and the Woods are Alive
Spring and summer is an exciting time of the year. Wildflowers begin to bloom and wildlife with their young is a common sight. Local rivers are raging with the spring runoff, and this is a great time of year for Paddle Sports or and exciting White Water Rafting trip.
Along with summer come ATVing, Camping, and Fishing. and also great opportunities for a Hike to the top of an area mountain or to a scenic Waterfall. If your just passing through maybe you would like to enjoy a picnic lunch at one of our scenic rest stops.
Throughout the summer there are many special water releases on the Kennebec and Dead Rivers. These releases make for fantastic White Water Rafting. Visit our Event Calendar for dates of these releases.
