Whitewater Rafting

Maine’s Whitewater Capital

The Forks, Maine, is the heart of whitewater rafting in the Northeast. Located where the Dead and Kennebec Rivers meet, this remote and beautiful region is home to the best rafting in New England—with trips available from May through October. Whether you’re a first-timer or an experienced paddler, rafting in The Forks offers the perfect blend of excitement, scenery, and adventure.

Why Raft in The Forks?

Two world-class rivers: The Kennebec and Dead Rivers offer dam-released water for steady Class II–IV rapids May-October.

Professional outfitters: Local rafting companies provide fully guided trips, all gear, transportation, and riverside lunches.

Unmatched scenery: Paddle through a 12-mile gorge, see waterfalls from the river, and spot eagles, osprey, and moose along the shoreline.

Something for everyone: From family-friendly floats to thrill-seeking adventures, trips are available for all skill levels and group sizes.

Kennebec River Rafting

The Kennebec River delivers an exciting and accessible rafting experience daily from May through mid-October. Fed by controlled dam releases, the Kennebec offers consistent Class III–IV rapids, with waves reaching up to 6 feet tall in the dramatic upper gorge section.
