Fall on the Byway

The Air is Crisp and the Colors Brilliant

Autumn is a great time to plan a visit to the Kennebec River valley. For many of the local residents, this is their favorite time of year. The brilliant leaves make for exceptional Foliage Viewing. There are many scenic drives and turnouts where visitors can enjoy and photograph the fall colors.

The cool, crisp days with few bugs also make a  great time to hike to the area’s many scenic Waterfalls. Enjoy an exciting day Whitewater Rafting or Canoeing / Kayaking.

There are numerous lodging and accommodations still available during the fall months, ranging from Camping facilities to traditional sporting camps and full-service inns.

For the sportsmen, Hunting is in full swing for moose, deer, bears, and upland birds. Late season Fishing for trout and salmon is also very popular.
